Since her beginnings, Sandra Paula Fernández (Grado, 1972) is an artist committed to defending gender perspective, the fight against consumerism and denouncing animal abuse, which she criticises through her paintings, digital prints, audiovisuals, installations and textile pieces. Her most recent works use icons from advertising, mass-media sources or patriarchal literature to transmute them into vindictive allegories that question the sexist burdens of society and the double standards of our time. She has obtained grants and awards such as the AlNorte Grant 2016, the Miquel Navarro Biennial Acquisition Award 2017, the VEGAP Grants, Audiovisual Creation Grants from the Community of Madrid and Artistic Productions from the City Council of Gijón (2020) or the Aequalitas Award (2021), among others. She did her first solo exhibition at Puxagallery between september and november of 2022.
