Puxagallery presents the second solo exhibition by Tadanori Yamaguchi in our gallery space, entitled Sozai Tataku and curated by Angel Antonio Rodriguez, with works that the artist has been developing during the last year. The exhibition will be open until December 2.

Tadanori Yamaguchi’s gaze continues to be linked to the identity of his roots, hitting the matter (Tataku -to hit-; Sozai -matter-) aware that the brief is as forceful as the immutable. The traces of trees, twilight, erosion and reliefs are key elements in his sculptures, which harmonize complexity and serenity in massive blocks patiently carved, to reveal tactile qualities in physical processes in which the idea of hatsuru –  the constant dialogue with the matter – remains unalterable.

Space 1 will show pieces made of aluminum, a material with which Yamaguchi has been experimenting for the last three years and which the artist has presented this spring in the amazing quarries of the Angurreta Harrobia Arte Espazioa in Durango (Vizcaya). These new works generate structures that alternate the geometric and the constuctive. In Space 2, the artist presents works in stone, marble and wood to be installed either on the floor or directly on the wall, like organic creations which continue to surprise the viewer.
