The works of Santi Lara(Tomelloso, 1975) raise metaphors about the human condition and wrap his unique characters within a symbolic scenography. During the last years, he has exhibited in Spain, Germany, Mexico and Italy, transporting the paint to neighbouring territories between reality and fiction with apocalyptic visions, ritual spirits and mythological resources. The artist has been hightlighted within the last generation by the Royal Spanish Academy in Rome, and he now presents this singular project after his stay in the Italian city. These are mental or psychological landscapes, which blend the irrational and the supernatural with irony and conviction, using expressionist gestures, distorted perspectives and the condensation of scale in the pursuit of liberty and fantasy, as he explores again and again our collective memory.
